Thank You for the Music!

Olah! It's Throwback Thursday! Woohoo!

So I am going to blog about Music for today. (this sounds like a teacher in a classroom. Haha!)

This blog is written for 2 reasons: I got inspired by Dee's blog about music as a way to time travel and secondly, because my surprise question during the IELTS interview is all about the Music industry to which I didn't even give a thought about. Damn! Dumb me actually. Haha. All I know is I love to sing. And I am notorious  for singing while working and my colleagues ALWAYS take notice of it, be it in the Philippines, Singapore or Canada. So what?! I am doing them all a favor by making our workplace relaxing or entertaining, eh? Well, I hope they think so too. :)

And oh! I love singing in the shower too by the way. So my niece would always have to knock to remind me that it's a shower room and not a concert hall! Haha! I don't know. I just can't imagine how my life would be without music. I know my dad is the singer in the family. His genes were passed on to me and my siblings and since I am the 3rd in the family, I only got the least of them. >.<

True, I do agree that a song can bring back memories. It's like when you listen to it,  you are taken back to the exact time you had that song in your head. But more often, it does bring sad memories. Eeeppss.. Depends actually. So I got my EMO playlist when I feel like walking down the memory lane. I also have my Sing it to Me which has all my favorite love songs I would imagine being serenaded to me (giggles) like "All of me" by John Legend, "Only Girl" by Boyce Avenue or "Marry Me" by the Train. Then if I feel like waking up my dance goddess inside (whoa!), I listen to my Latin Dance list which has the songs by famous Latinos like "Bailando" by Enrique Iglesias or "Suavemente, Besame". I just love the beat and the rhythm like I can't help but dance.

So here are my top favorite songs through the years and why I liked them:

1. "Only Girl" the male version by Boyce Avenue. It's a song by a man for his future wife. I remember when a friend gave a [love letteron behalf of my John (my Juan in Filipino language which is pronounced as my One), this was the very song that came into my mind. And every time I listen to it, I think that maybe somewhere someone is praying for me. :)

2. "Fireworks" by one of my favorite artists - Katy Perry. I remember this song to be my power song. Roar! (lol! though she has another song with this title) It just inspired and empowered me to stand up again from a hard fall. It reminded me of my worth and that no matter what, no one and no circumstances can put off that light inside of me. Woohoo! Self-love it is!

3. Dance with my Father. I often imagine how I would walk down the aisles someday. And I know I would no longer be able to have my father walk me to the altar. Not even dance with him on the traditional dance of the bride and the father. So whenever I listen to this song I can't help but cry. (like now!!!) I know someday, I'd have all the time to dance with my father again. :)

4. Kiss Me by Sixpence None The Richer. LOL. This is my favorite karaoke song to sing. I remember when we had the socialization night in law school and I was asked to sing, it's like a no-brainer, I readily chose this song. Since then people would associate the song with me.

5. Buttons by Pussycat Dolls. This one would be a hawt dance number. Woot! Whenever I hear this, it just unleashes my dance spirit. By the way, I got my own steps for this one! And yeah, whenever I dance to this tune, I become a different person. Ok, enough. Now, don't imagine me dancing like these dolls, please. I am just a dollet. Haha! I just love to dance. And I dream of having a dance studio someday in my own home.

Music keeps me alive! Whatever the emotions a song may bring out, it does breathe life to one person.

"So I say, thank you for the music, the songs I'm singing. Thanks for all the joy they're bringing. Who can live without it. I ask in all honestly. What would life be? Without a song or a dance, what are we?" :)
