Making Meaningful Connections
I had a funny start of the day today. I usually wake up around 8 am to do my yoga but I checked on my schedule for the day on my work phone and I was surprised to receive an invite for a one on one zoom call from one of my bosses in HK. I thought he scheduled the meeting to wish me the best on my new path. He asked me how I was doing and I replied I am busy packing these days. Alas! He was not informed yet and here I was feeling like so important that the boss will really set up a meeting to say goodbye. It was so embarrassing! LOL. But I am so glad that he was so kind and sincere in letting me know how much he appreciates me. In the end, I am thankful I had the chance to speak with him and thank him for everything.
In the afternoon I also had 2 other meetings with my colleagues from other departments with whom I always enjoy catching up. One kind colleague was teary-eyed as I was telling her of my updates. She said she was sad to see me leave but that she is also happy that I will be on a new journey to having my own family which she herself values the most in her life.
After that call, I had a virtual coffee time with another sweet colleague who I must tell you is always so positive and a nice company to be around with. I am just sad I didn't get the chance to meet her in person though but we always connect during social events and I feel like we got the same energy towards fun activities. :) I do wish her the best too!
Today's chats made me realize how important it is to always strive to make meaningful connections. You never know how you are going to touch the person sitting next to you who may have needed to hear just the kind words you said to save his day. The little things that you do constantly can also make lasting impact to the people around you, you just may never know it.
My heart is full today. I am grateful for every chance I get to connect with kind and nice people. I hope to make a difference in at least 1 person's life.
